  THE ALLERCA FOUNDATION DNA BANK

The ALLERCA Foundation has an important but daunting task ahead: to help create the world's largest gene bank of rare and endangered animals before they disappear forever.

In what is undoubtedly the greatest conservation project in recent years, gene banking might guarantee that animal species survive, regardless of the dangers they currently face in their natural habitats. We applaud the efforts of large and small conversation groups, but in many ways, we all agree that anyone involved in the conservation of precious species is losing an uphill battle. No matter how much money is spent, or how large an effort is made, hunting, logging, poaching and encroachment into wild habitats goes on unabated.

The Foundation aims to help bank rare animal DNA securely stored in our banks. These include the Amur Leopard, the Pink Dolphin, and the Spanish Lynx amongst others.

Funded entirely through ALLERCA Corporate donations, the cost of processing and the long term storage costs over a $1,000 to secure the DNA of a single animal. In order to provide a workable gene pool we aim to bank at least a dozen or more different animas from the same species.
